Learn what other actors are saying about William and The 4th Wall Acting Studio.

I studied alongside William for many years. In addition to being one of my favorite human beings, William has superb instincts when it comes to acting. He has an innate understanding of story and character and a knack for finding the truth in every scene. He truly loves this craft and possesses both the compassion and effortless insight necessary to help others flourish. I wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone looking for a safe place to not only hone their skills, but to deepen their understanding of acting.

I love working with William. He provides a safe environment to take risks and pushes the actor into new areas of discovery. Actors tend to over analyze; they tend to over-think their performance. William strips that away and leaves you with a pure, simple, and raw take on your character.
— Josh McDermitt

William is an incredible teacher. He helped me understand the art of acting in the simplest and most effective ways. He has a gift of finding what each person needs to get the best out of themselves. I have booked more jobs since training with William and I’m forever grateful for that!

William has been helping me prepare for many film and TV auditions for several years. Even now I still Skype with William for big auditions though he’s in Nashville and I am in Phoenix. I was always excited about going to William’s class in LA because he made learning new acting techniques fun! He’s very focused about how he can help make you a better actor whether it’s line delivery, stage direction, “cheating” to the camera or eye-lines. He gives really good, constructive feedback, so I always know what I did well and what I can do better next time. He never gave me a script that I couldn’t do, but he did give ones that stretched me instead. William is the best acting coach I’ve ever had!

William is hands down the best acting teacher I have ever had the pleasure of working with. Studying under him inspired me as a performing artist. His ability to connect with each student individually gave our class the tools necessary to surpass simply playing out actions and visualizing objectives, which I often felt was the case in pervious training. With William, I was able to create an imaginary reality where I could truly become my character. I will forever value my experience with him.

I will start with, William is one of the kindest humans I know. Although that has nothing to do with acting, I am convinced that having someone who truly believes in your success and supports you is necessary in an acting coach. With that being said, he teaches with his whole heart and yet is able to push you past your ‘limit’. And in true William Arnold fashion, he still checks in with me to see that work is going well or even if he sees me on TV!
— Alisa Allapach

There are a lot of studios and classes that will tell you they can make you an actor, ‘Follow this formula and you will succeed’ kind of studios. William understands that there is no formula and the art of telling a story can be a scary business. Everyone has a different path, a different story to tell...and he helps you find that.
The 4th Wall is a community- Groups of creative, talented people all wanting to help the others succeed. That’s not an accident. William inspires you to be a better actor, artist and person.

The teaching style of The 4th Wall builds a strong foundation for actors to develop their craft. It goes beyond a specific method or technique, enhancing the ability of actors at any level- from novice to experienced- to grow with a full heart. William challenges actors, in a creative and safe environment, to boldly embrace the part of themselves that most people hide, but that actors so willingly share with the audience. Having the courage to share your heart is what separates great acting from just good acting.
— Rosa SanMarchi

In the classroom William understands the delicate nature of the ‘act’ of acting. I’ve worked with him on both sides of the wall and he is fearless & afraid like the rest of us, but he is also steady. He’s a natural teacher.

William is my go to.
Whenever I need advice on acting, the business & even life in general- he is where I head. I couldn’t ask for a better coach, mentor or human.
— Stacey Schrom

I have had the pleasure of being directed by William and working with him in a classroom setting. William has a great sense of humor and a fantastic playfulness about him that he brings to his directing and teaching but that playfulness doesn’t stand in the way of progress & purpose. For me acting is ‘playing’ whether the role is drama or comedy; William has always provided an atmosphere of freedom that has allowed me to explore and set me up for honest, passionate work that has levity within it. I am proud to call William a friend and mentor.

William didn’t teach me what to think, he taught me how to think. I started the class not really knowing what made me passionate about acting, but through the year I realized it was because I loved the feeling of making others ‘feel’. I loved how my choices in a scene determined how others would react and without William I wouldn’t be the actress I am today. I found out more about myself in his class than I had the previous seventeen years. Every class was such a learning opportunity and my favorite part about it was that it was real. I have yet to find an acting coach as great as him and I have only good things to say about his class!
— Allison Trammell

Studying with William over the past several years has been a joy. Whenever I can pop into class, his playful nature and understanding for the need of the actor to grow on their own terms has provided me with a safe place to play and experiment in my art which has assisted me greatly in honing in on its truth.

William is a truly gifted acting teacher. His gentle and intuitive skills allow students to feel safe, open up & trust their instincts. His integrity and passion inspires you to be the best that he sees in you. It is his generosity of spirit that encourages you to take risks, allows kids and adults alike to be free & playful. He draws out the uniqueness in each individual and nurtures it.
It takes a special person to be able to teach a class and yet adjust to each student’s needs...this is how he works. He doesn’t teach fundamentals just to teach them. He uses them to help the actors find themselves so that they can find their own way, see & trust their vision, and have faith & confidence in themselves and their art. William always reminds us to live life and have fun!
— Jennifer Choe

The secret to William’s genius is that in truth, he himself is a child at heart. He teaches with a childlike energy; that optimistic anything-is-possible mentality that lends itself to the art of becoming a character. Always willing to think outside the box, he instructs his students on simply having fun as the foundation of any scene, and letting the true essence of the character come out through the artists own personality. When this happens, the acting is no longer a conscious thought for the actor, but now they are playing in a sandbox within the scene naturally and instinctively. Too many times actors lose that childlike wonder in their craft; William teaches his students to embrace it and in some cases, rediscover it. After all, it’s our imaginative minds that led us to become actors in the first place, isn’t it?

It has been a joy to work with William for many years. He is an insightful, compassionate, fun person and brings these qualities to his teaching. The essence of film and television is to express your authentic self through the role. William understands how to guide each actor through that process of self-discovery. I trust his instincts implicitly.
— Lisa Kaminir

I have gone to many acting studios, but the only class I stuck with was William’s. Although it was a “teen class”, William never treated us any different than the adult actors we worked with. He gave me the confidence to make bold choices as well as provided a safe environment where I knew those choices were respected even if they weren’t the right ones. He continually challenged me and always took into account the kind of work I was interested in. He always gave me something that made me a better actor. He is hands down the best teacher I have ever had and I couldn’t be more thankful to have him as a mentor.
